The second half of our trip to Hawaii was spent in the tourist hub, Waikiki. A week that made for great sunsets, lots of shopping and cheap cocktails. While Waikiki reminded me of a more expensive version of Queensland's Gold Coast, it still had it's own wonderful charms, such as a backdrop of an extinct volcano, Diamond Head.
Hawaii, what an amazing place. Lisa (my partner in crime) and I recently took a tour with GEO ETC, (http://geoetc.com/ ) to the island of Hawaii to learn about hot spot volcanoes. This tour was aimed at school teachers to educate them how to better teach students about Earth Science but also great for those of us who are not school teachers. It was AMAZING! It's an excellent tour for anyone who loves science, likes physical activity and has a hunger for learning new things. Gary Lewis, our guide, had a wealth of knowledge and to top it off, he's a pretty good bloke too.
